Privacy Policy
Your training belongs to you.
Last updated: November 3, 2026. This policy describes the RepCalc app for iPhone and iPad, its Apple Watch companion, its widgets and controls, and the features included in version 1.1 (Coach, Programs, Gyms, Body measurements and progress photos, Steps & Cardio, and Siri and Shortcuts).
RepCalc is provided by Nikos Galinos under IT Works On My Mac. For privacy questions or requests, email itworksonmymac@icloud.com. The Terms of Use are published separately.
The short version
- RepCalc is 100% free, with no ads, paywalls, or subscriptions.
- You can plan and log workouts offline without a RepCalc account.
- Your records are stored on your device. Supported records can also sync through your private Apple iCloud database when available and enabled.
- Apple Health access is optional and controlled by your permissions. Steps and other apps’ workouts are read on your device and are not stored or synced by RepCalc.
- Progress photos are optional and stay on your iPhone. RepCalc never syncs, exports, or shares them.
- RepCalc does not sell your personal or Health data or use advertising tracking.
- Cloud-assisted workout planning is optional. Your planning answers are sent to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute only when you choose that option on a supported device.
Information you choose to store
RepCalc stores the training information you enter or import: workout dates and names, exercises, sets, weights, repetitions, duration and distance where applicable, effort and set types, notes, rest settings, routines, folders, custom exercises, favorites, body measurements, goals, progression settings and programs, gyms and the equipment in them, and preferences. It also stores the state needed to restore an active workout, and local indexes and settings used to present your history and progress.
Workout-plan answers may include your training goal, experience, schedule, available equipment, and other preferences you enter. Avoid including medical details or other sensitive information in free-text fields unless you want that information included in the relevant feature.
Local storage and private iCloud sync
RepCalc uses Apple’s on-device storage for your records. When iCloud is available and enabled for the app, supported records may synchronize through the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account, including across your Apple devices. This does not require a separate RepCalc account.
Apple operates iCloud and handles data under its own terms and privacy policy. RepCalc does not receive your Apple Account password. You can manage iCloud access through device settings. Without iCloud, workout logging remains available locally. Connectivity, storage availability, and Apple’s service limits can affect synchronization.
Operational information used for local restoration and indexing stays separate from the records intended for iCloud synchronization. Device backups may also contain app data depending on your Apple backup settings.
Some settings stay on the device where you choose them and are not synced: your gyms and their equipment, your suggestion and effort settings, your Steps & Cardio choices, your Home layout, and your training schedule. Progression methods for each exercise and programs on your folders sync with your other records.
Apple Health
Apple Health integration is optional. With your permission, RepCalc can save completed workouts and associated supported energy information, read body mass and workout frequency, and read supported workout metrics such as heart rate and energy to enrich workout details. RepCalc requests access through Apple’s authorization controls.
Steps & Cardio. If you turn on Steps & Cardio, RepCalc also asks to read your step count, walking and running, cycling, swimming, and rowing distance, and workouts saved to Health by other apps or devices, such as the Workout app on Apple Watch or Strava. For those workouts it reads the activity type, start and end time, distance, energy, and the name of the app that saved them. RepCalc skips workouts it saved itself.
This information is read on your device each time it is shown, and is held only while the app uses it. RepCalc does not save it in its workout store, sync it through iCloud, include it in exports or backups, or put it on share cards. If you choose to count other apps’ workouts toward your weekly goal, your weekly totals and streaks include them, so the streak number on widgets may reflect them. Your Steps & Cardio choices stay on your device. Turning the feature off stops these reads; you can also remove access in Health.
Health information is used for the fitness functions you enable. It is not sold or used for advertising. You can change permissions in Apple Health or device settings. Removing permission prevents further access to the affected types; it does not automatically erase information already saved in RepCalc or Health. You can manage records in each app.
Apple Watch companion
If you use RepCalc on a paired Apple Watch, the iPhone and watch exchange the state needed to follow your session, including exercise and workout names, set identifiers and values, rest timing, session status, and actions such as completing a set or changing rest. The watch can record heart rate and energy through Apple Health when you grant permission. Live metrics can be shown on your devices; completed workouts may be saved to Health according to your settings. RepCalc coordinates the phone and watch so one device owns saving the workout to Health.
The companion uses Apple’s WatchConnectivity services. It does not create a public profile or send your workout to a RepCalc social service. Manage Health permissions on your Apple devices.
Body measurements and progress photos
You can log body weight, body fat, and waist, chest, arm, thigh, hip, and neck measurements. They are stored with your other records and sync through your private iCloud database when iCloud is enabled. Body weight can also come from Apple Health with your permission.
Progress photos are optional. You choose them through Apple’s system photo picker, so RepCalc does not get access to your photo library. Each photo is re-encoded on your device, which removes location and camera details, and saved only in RepCalc’s storage on that iPhone with iOS data protection. RepCalc never syncs progress photos through iCloud, includes them in its exports or backups, uploads them, or shows them on share cards, widgets, Spotlight, or Siri. They are included in your iPhone’s own backup according to your Apple backup settings. You can require Face ID or your passcode to view them. Deleting your measurements or erasing RepCalc’s data deletes them.
Siri, Shortcuts, Controls, and Spotlight
RepCalc offers App Shortcuts and controls, for example to start a workout, skip rest, ask what you lifted last time, or log your body weight. When you use them with Siri, Apple processes your request under its own privacy policy. Reading your workout history or logging body weight requires your device to be unlocked.
To let you start a template from Spotlight, RepCalc adds your template names to your device’s on-device search index. No workout history, measurements, photos, or notes are added. Controls in Control Center, on the Lock Screen, or on the Action Button only open RepCalc. You can turn off Siri and search suggestions for RepCalc in your device settings.
Workout planning and Apple intelligence
RepCalc can build a workout plan using local rules. On compatible devices, Apple’s on-device Foundation Models may assist with planning. For on-device planning, the prompt and result are processed on your device.
Where supported, you can choose Apple’s Private Cloud Compute after a disclosure explaining that your planning answers will leave the device. If you consent, the answers and relevant planning instructions are sent to Apple for that request. You can decline and continue with available local planning. RepCalc does not send these planning requests to a separate general-purpose AI provider.
Apple describes how Private Cloud Compute handles requests in Apple Intelligence & Privacy. Compatibility, region, connectivity, and Apple’s usage limits may affect availability. RepCalc does not charge for these features. Private Cloud Compute allowances depend on Apple’s current rules and your Apple Account plan, including iCloud+; a higher allowance may require a paid Apple plan. RepCalc does not require an upgrade, and its local training rules remain available when AI cannot run. Always review a generated plan; it may contain errors and is not professional coaching or medical advice.
Widgets, Live Activities, rest alarms, and notifications
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets use a small shared snapshot of your weekly workouts, training goal, volume, sets, time, streak, and next workout. Tapping a widget can open the relevant screen or start a workout. Widgets read this snapshot rather than your full workout database. Body measurements and progress photos are never part of it. People who can see your Home or Lock Screen may see these summaries.
Live Activities and the widget extension can display a limited snapshot of your current workout, including the workout or exercise name, set details, elapsed time, and rest countdown. The system may show this on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, or other supported surfaces. People who can see those surfaces may see those details.
Optional rest alerts and training-day reminders use Apple’s local notification or alarm capabilities, subject to system permission and settings. Reminders are scheduled on your device; RepCalc does not send push notifications from a server. You can manage Live Activities, notifications, and alarms through the app and device settings. Shared app-group storage helps the app and extension coordinate the active-workout snapshot.
Imports, exports, photos, and sharing
If you import a file, RepCalc reads the selected workout data to prepare an import preview and save the records you confirm. Exported backups and workout share cards can contain personal training information. You choose whether and where to save or share them through Apple’s file picker and share sheet.
Photo share cards use an image you select through Apple’s system photo picker or take through the camera after granting camera permission. RepCalc decodes the selected photo locally to compose the card; it does not retain it in the workout store or upload it to a RepCalc server. The image you export may contain your photo and workout statistics. Your original image remains managed by your photo library, and an exported card remains wherever you save or share it.
After you send a file or card to another person, app, or service, that recipient controls its copy under its own practices. Keep exported backups somewhere you trust.
Advertising, tracking, and diagnostics
RepCalc contains no advertising and does not use ad networks or cross-app advertising tracking. Its current Apple privacy manifest declares no tracking. RepCalc does not sell personal data or Health data.
RepCalc does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools, and it does not collect location or contacts. If you choose to leave an optional tip, Apple processes the purchase through the App Store; RepCalc receives Apple’s confirmation of the purchase, never your payment details. Tips unlock nothing, and every feature stays free.
Apple may process system diagnostics and crash reports according to your device privacy settings. If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, and attachments. Please avoid sending workout exports or Health information unless necessary for your request.
Retention, deletion, and your choices
Your training records are retained until you delete them. RepCalc provides controls to delete records and erase supported app data. Removing the app may remove its local data but does not necessarily remove iCloud records, device backups, Health records, or files you exported. Manage those copies through the relevant Apple service or storage location.
You can use RepCalc without signing up, manage Apple permissions, export supported records, and delete your app data. Depending on your location, privacy law may provide additional rights concerning personal data we hold, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection. Contact us about a request; for data held solely in your device or Apple account, the relevant in-app or Apple controls may be needed. You may also contact your local data-protection authority.
Children
RepCalc is a general fitness tracker and is not designed to knowingly collect children’s personal information through a separate account service. Users must meet applicable age and parental-consent requirements. A parent or guardian should supervise a minor’s training and use of the app as appropriate.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or its integrations evolve. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated when required. For questions, contact itworksonmymac@icloud.com.
